Poole Town and Portland United faced off in a mid season friendly where The Dolphins came out on top in a comfortable 0-3 win away from home.

The Dolphins squad consisted of several first team players requiring match fitness and sharpness ahead of Saturday’s home league game against league leaders Merthyr Town.

Ben Taylor started in goal with Josh Staunton, a trialist and familiar face Ade Olumuyiwa as the defensive three.

Dario De Luca and a trialist were given wing back roles, the returning Charlie Davis, Luke Nippard and another trialist made up the midfield.

Rafa Ramos and Tom Hewlett led the line for The Dolphins.

The game got underway with Poole controlling from the off. Charlie Davis looking like his old self, always eager to receive the ball and get Poole on the front foot.

After half an hour the deadlock was broken, and it was Ade Olumuyiwa who tapped the ball in following a corner, great to see him back!

Half time and The Dolphins led 0-1. Poole came out flying and doubled their lead after Rafa Ramos found the net from close range.

Ramos was replaced shortly after by young talent Pietro Almeida who got himself a goal. Almeida whipped the ball into the bottom left corner to extend Poole’s lead to three.

Tully rotated his squad in the second half bringing on a handful of youth players including young goalkeeper Toby Stainer Reid.

A comfortable victory and a good run out for Poole. It will be a real boost having players such as Charlie Davis returning to the squad following injury.

We look ahead to Saturday as we’re back at the BlackGold facing Merthyr Town.
