Poole Town fought back valiantly to earn a point against Tom Killick’s Dorchester Town.
Manager Steve Tully made three changes with Charlie Davis and Oakley Hanger coming into the team and goalkeeper Ben Taylor making his first start.
The match got underway with both sides testing eachother out early on.
Dorchester looked the more likely to capitalise on their chances but were unable to take the lead in the first half hour.
Moments before the break, Dorchester did open the scoring through ex-Dolphin Harry Hutchinson who fired home at the back post.
The half came to a close with the away side in the lead.
Poole Town made a halftime substitution with striker Tom Hewlett coming on for Tyrique Clarke.
The Dolphins came out for the second half with a much higher intensity and looked the more likely to score.
After substantial pressure, it was the Dolphins who equalised the game as Ezio Touray headed home to draw the game level.
The match was brought to a halt just after the hour mark due to floodlight failure.
Both sets of players and management headed down the tunnel, unsure if the match was set to continue.
After 15 minutes of the game being temporarily delayed, the players finally came back out onto the field for the match to resume.
A number of substitutions from Tully’s side made their way on to the field such as Rafa Ramos and Harry Thomas.
Dorchester went close as they looked for a winner through a number of set pieces, however, a fine display from Ben Taylor kept them at bay.
Ramos had the best chance for the Dolphins in the second half as they almost took the lead late on but were denied due to a great stop from Gerard Benfield.
Despite both sets of players looking likely to take the lead, the referee’s whistle brought proceedings to an end with a goal apiece.
Both sides looked like they had the potential to go on and win the game, Dorchester having the better of the chances but a promising second half from Poole salvaged a well-fought point.
Next up for Tully’s side is a tough test as we travel to AFC Totton on Saturday.
