Steve Tully made two changes following Saturday’s 2-1 win away to Marlow with Oakley Hanger and Charlie Davis coming in for Antonio Diaz and Harvey Slade.

Wimborne manager Tim Sills also made two changes to his Wimborne side with Sam Roberts and Ben Scorey coming into the starting eleven.

Before kick off, there was a minute’s applause for the passing of Poole Town legend Tony France, a prolific goalscorer for the Dolphins in the 60s.

The game got underway infront of a bumper crowd at the BlackGold Stadium with 1,615 people watching on, the highest recorded attendance at Tatnam for over five years!

The first big chance of the game fell to the Dolphins as Toby Holmes found himself unmarked in the middle after a fantastic cross from Charlie Davis, but the number nine was unable to convert from close range.

The visitors had a chance to open the scoring on the 25-minute mark as Matty Burrows found himself in behind the back line but wasdenied by multiple excellent saves from Cam Plain to keep the score goalless.

The deadlock was finally broken moments before half-time as Holmes set up Davis perfectly for the midfielder to calmly slot it past the helpless Flitney to give the Dolphins the lead going into the break.

The second half got underway with the Magpies on the front foot looking to draw things level but to no avail.

Poole substitute Jack Hoey went close as the Dolphins looked to double their lead but his audacious lob over the goalkeeper was denied by the crossbar.

Wimborne went close on the 80th minute mark as a Carmichael free kick flew past Cam Plain’s post.

Despite Wimborne’s domination in the second half, the full-time whistle went with Poole taking all three points in a closely fought encounter at the BlackGold Stadium.

Next up for Steve Tully’s side is an FA Cup fixture away to Swindon Supermarine on Saturday.
