Poole Town are now twelve unbeaten at home following the 1-0 win over Cherstey Town at Tatnam on Saturday afternoon.
The Dolphins progressed through to the next round of the FA Cup after beating Didcot Town 2-1 on Tuesday.
Harvey Slade and Selim Saied returned to the starting eleven having missed out on Tuesday.
The game got underway on a sunny afternoon in Dorset with the visitors on top in the early stages but Poole certainly showing glimpses of promise.
The Dolphins started to cement their presence in the game after 25 minutes with some nice build up from Ik Hill and Selim Saied.
With the half looking to come to a close, Poole ramped up the pressure, however Joe Lea and Pat Suraci’s side were still unable to generate any clear-cut chances.
Shaquille Gwengwe had the final chance of the first half but, his effort was blocked as it drifted towards the goal.
The referee’s whistle brought the first half to a goalless close with chances at a limited.
Chertsey came out the blocks at the start of the second half with Jack Mazzone going close but his effort was denied by the linesman’s flag going up.
The first substitute arrived on the 63rd minute for Poole with Antonio Diaz coming on for Kris Campbell.
Diaz had an effort moments after coming on as his effort was fired just wide of the post.
The deadlock was finally broken on the 72nd minute as Gwengwe dinked the ball over the goalkeeper from a fantastic through ball from Hill to give Poole the lead.
With moments to go, the Poole defence remained resolute and held on as Gwengwe’s goal was enough to secure three points on Saturday afternoon at Tatnam.
Poole are at home again this Tuesday as they host fifth place Farnham Town.
