Poole Town remain in the relegation zone following a 1-0 defeat to Tiverton Town at The BlackGold Stadium.

Managers Joe Lea and Pat Suraci made three changes in response to the defeat to Gosport Borough the previous weekend.

Harry Thomas, Antonio Diaz and Ezio Touray all returned to the staring eleven; Keelan O’Connell missed out through injury.

The first chance of the match fell to the visitors with a free kick right outside the penalty area.

Niall Thompson stepped up to take and his effort found it’s way into the back of the net, helped by a slight deflection off the wall to give Tiverton an early lead.

Despite possession aplenty for the Dolphins, there were limited chances for both sides after the opener.

Tom Hewlett fired a shot goalwards on the half-hour mark, but his effort was well saved by the Tiverton goalkeeper.

The half drew to a close with the away side infront at the break.

The second half commenced with a slightly higher tempo but Lea and Suraci’s side still unable to create any key chances going forward.

Rafa Ramos was introduced in the 55th minute and provided Poole with a bit more of a platform going forward.

The Dolphins had their best chance of the match on the 71st minute but substitute Tyrique Clarke could only find the side netting.

With time running out for Poole, they started putting the pressure on and sending more players forward but were unable to convert.

Things went from bad to worse for Poole as Josh Staunton was shown a straight red card deep into stoppage time.

The full time whistle went at The BlackGold Stadium, leaving Poole winless in four and stuck in the relegation zone.

Next up is a short trip to Wimborne Town on Tuesday for the Stourco Derby.
