The 25 year old winger has made 16 appearances so far this season for the Terras.
O’Connell started his career as a youngster at AFC Bournemouth after joining their academy at ten years old.
He first signed a professional contract with the Cherries during the 2015/16 season but never made a first team appearance for the club.
In 2019, he moved on loan to Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship and made his senior debut in a 0-0 draw against Ayr United.
On returning back to AFC Bournemouth’s academy, he lifted the Central League Cup in 2021 before being released at the end of the campaign.
Following his departure from the Cherries, O’Connell was picked up by national league side Torquay where he made over 25 appearances.
For the start of the 2022/23 season, O’Connell joined Weymouth and played a significant role in keeping the Terras up that season with 15 goal involvements.
He decided to renew at the start of the season but after a lack of game time in the last few matches with the new management at the Bob Lucas Stadium; O’Connell has made the decision to switch to the red and white of Poole.
Joint-manager Joe Lea commented on his arrival, he said: “We’re both delighted that Keelan is joining us, he’s a player that really fits our style of play.”
Lea added: “He’s the type of profile that we want in our squad, he’s been a consistent performer at the step above us.
“It’s a really positive move for the club and shows the direction that the club want to go in by bringing in someone of Keelan’s quality.”
Welcome Keelan!
