The 36-year-old defender became Poole Town’s record appearance holder last season and has now made 510 appearances for the Dolphins.

Whisken started his career at AFC Bournemouth, where he only managed to play one game for the Cherries in the league cup against Wigan Athletic.

He has also played for the likes of Basingstoke Town, Bognor Regis and Farnborough Town before signing for AFC Totton where he made almost 200 appearances between 2009 and 2013.

Whisken was one of several players who signed for Poole from the Stags in 2013 and shortly after arriving at Tatnam, he was made captain of the side.

During his time with the club, he has seen the true highs and lows of non-league football such as achieving promotion to the National League South in the 2015/16 season and then finishing 5th place the following season.

Twelve years after he made his debut for Poole, he has now made 510 appearances for the club and a remarkable 809 career appearances.

Upon signing the deal, Whisken said: “I’m buzzing to sign on for another season, this club is in my blood, and I’m fully committed to helping bring success back where it belongs, giving our incredible fans what they deserve.”

Whisken added: “I believe in Joe and Pat and the levels they bring to the club, the future is bright with them at the helm so let’s make it a season to remember.”

Joint-manager Pat Suraci said: “It’s great to have Whisk here for another season, you can feel his presence around the club and on the pitch.”

He added: “He’s a vital part of this club’s recent history and it’s important to have people like him with us on the journey for the direction we want this club to go.”
