The Dolphins progressed through to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup after beating Gosport Borough 3-0 on the road, extending their unbeaten run to eight matches.

This was Joe Lea and Pat Suraci’s second visit back to Privett Park in February, the management duo made two changes from the 2-2 draw with Farnham Town on Tuesday.

The game got underway with neither side able to gain control of the game in the early stages.

A Charlie Davis free kick rattled the post in the first five minutes but the follow up was cleared away by the hosts.

In a half that lacked any real clear-cut chances, it was a mistake at the back from Gosport’s Rory Williams which led to Shaquille Gwengwe calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to give the Dolphins the lead.

The hosts went close to finding an equaliser through ex-Poole player Rafa Ramos, but he was denied by Adam Parkes who stood tall to deny the Gosport striker.

The half time whistle was blown with Poole in the lead thanks to Gwengwe’s clinical finish.

The second half got underway with a much more open feel to it, chances for both sides in end-to-end action.

Poole found the back of the net for a second through Selim Saied after being brilliantly set up by Kris Campbell to make it 2-0 on the hour mark.

Poole went looking for blood in search of a third to put the game to bed but chances from Ik Hill and Gwengwe went missing and the game remained tense with the decisive next goal up for grabs.

Eventually substitute Henry Spalding was brought down in the area and Gwengwe stepped up to find Poole’s third on the 90th minute ensuring the Dolphins are through to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup.

A big thank you to all the travelling fans that made the trip to Gosport, next up for Poole is a trip to Hungerford next Saturday.
