It was another memorable away trip for Poole town as they took all three points in a mental 3-4 win away at Bracknell Town.
A hattrick from Shaq Gwengwe and a first half goal from IK Hillman sealed a deserved three points in one of the most exciting games certainly I’ve ever witnessed.
Poole were the ones who started brightly with chances coming early on for Gwengwe and saied.
The Robins were unable to muster any real dangerous chances in the opening 45, with Poole taking the lead 36 minutes in, IK Hill scoring his first league goal for the Dolphins with a strike from range.
Bracknell responded swiftly in the second half through Jordan Esprit before Poole number nine, Shaq Gwengwe fired the Dolphins back into the lead just four minutes later.
Esprit wasn’t done there as he got the robins back on level terms with a superb volley, with 25 minutes to play.
And just eight minutes later it was the formidable duo of Hill and Gwengwe who combined to restore Poole’s lead. Hill being sent through on goal by Campbell, knocked it square to Gwengwe who slotted the ball into an empty net to send Poole 3-2 up on 74 minutes.
Francis Amartey then responded for Bracknell following a corner, with the scorline 3-3 with less than ten minutes of normal time remaining.
As the board was held up, 8, yes 8, minutes were shown meaning there was surely time for a winner. And Poole got what they deserved after a corner was whipped onto the head of Gwengwe and sailed into the bottom right hand corner sending the Poole town fans, staff and players into pure jubilation.
And those smiles could’ve been wiped off if Bracknell were able to convert a last kick of the game penalty. Adam Parkes sprung to his right and produced a superb save to win his team the game.
What an extraordinary game of football, let’s hope for more of the same when we entertain Evesham United at Tatnam on Saturday 23rd August.
