Poole Town Ladies delivered a dominant performance, securing an emphatic 7-1 victory over Merley FC in the second round of the FA Cup.
The game started with both teams looking to gain early control. Poole Town’s Summer Williams came close to opening the scoring after just ten minutes, narrowly missing with a shot that grazed the post. Katie Marshallsay then threatened in the 17th minute with an excellent effort that also went close.
The breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Summer Williams unleashed a stunning strike from 20 yards out, giving Poole Town a 1-0 lead. Marshallsay soon doubled the advantage with a quickfire brace. By the 39th minute, Lucy Coalter’s well-taken corner found Anna Kanz, who converted to make it 4-0 going into halftime.
Merley pulled one back shortly after the break, scoring in the 48th minute, but Poole Town quickly regained their dominance. A halftime substitution saw Maisie Riley replace Lucy Coalter, and just three minutes later, another change followed, with Lauren Rogers coming on for Abi Mole. Rogers made an immediate impact, scoring in the 63rd minute to extend the lead to 5-1.
A goalkeeper assist from Be-Be Smith led to Beth Anderson scoring in the 65th minute, to make it 6-1. The final blow came in the 78th minute when Maddie Kemp unleashed a screamer, sealing the 7-1 scoreline.
Poole Town Ladies will take great confidence from this commanding win as they advance to the next round of the FA Cup.
