Steve Tully’s side took the lead on just after the half-an-hour mark through an excellent volley from Tom Hewlett after he was well set up by Antonio Diaz. The Dolphins were reduced to ten men after Hewlett was sent off for a dubious second yellow card. Marine went on to equalise and looked to push for a winner, but Poole stayed resilient and managed to hold on for a replay.
This will be the second out of three occasions we play Swindon Supermarine this week as we also face them on Saturday as we return to The Webbswood Stadium for a league fixture.
A player to watch out for is the goalscorer from the weekend, Michael Fernandes who signed from Hayes and Yeading earlier this year, has also played for the likes of Farnborough and Hungerford. He had a very impressive goal-scoring run at the end of last season where he scored six in nine!
Another player who impressed on Saturday was Liban Ibrahim, an energetic box-to-box midfielder who signed at the start of last season after trialling with the club in the summer as he looked a real threat down that right hand side.
After holding on with ten men for 40 minutes on Saturday and forcing a replay, manager Steve Tully will be fully expecting to get a result tomorrow evening and progress through to the next round of the cup.
Looking ahead to the game, he said: Hopefully we’ll get a big crowd, the fans have been absolutely superb, we will go again and now it’s on our terms to make sure we do the right things to get into that hat”.
Poole will look to get the better of Supermarine this time with the home crowd behind them there is no reason why we can’t progress to the next round so let’s get behind the lads and help them get through to the next round of the cup!
