The game started brightly with Toby Holmes seeing an early chance hit a defender before Austin found himself through with just the keeper to beat on 5 minutes. Poole fans feared the worst but Plain pulled off an excellent save. Whisken was alert to clear from following a quick throw in but a minute later Totton took the lead on 15 minutes with good work down the left by Blair whose ball in to the box saw Rendell surge through the centre for a simple tap in. For the next 15 minutes Totton controlled the game without testing Plain. On 32 minutes Holmes surged forward but was beaten by Totton’s defender but good pressure by Poole saw Holmes pick the ball up again but he fired his chance straight at Gould. Rose saw his long range shot comfortably saved by Plain before Toby Holmes had another good chance on 42 minutes but the ball got tangled under his feet, the ball falling to Diaz who was bundled over but the referee waved away penalty shouts.
In contrast the second half was much more scrappy and took a while to get going. Totton created some half chances in the first 15 minutes before substitute changes by Poole saw them take control. Forbes caused many problems for Totton down the right wing but Poole’s sustained pressure failed to deliver a shot on target.  Free kicks and corners rained in from Poole in last 15 minutes but no-one was able to convert.  Then Forbes brought down Taylor for a soft penalty but Plain made a magnificent save to deny a decent Rendell effort. However Totton held on for their third consecutive victory.
A very absorbing entertaining game.  Totton played a very direct long ball style which suited their strong attacking forward line of Lee, Austin and Rendell.  Poole generally coped very well with this just sadly undone by the one goal.  2 great opportunities wasted by Toby Holmes meant Poole went in behind.  For the last 20 minutes or so of the game Poole dominated and really felt they deserved an equaliser as Totton were hanging on.  Forbes was the real danger man.   A disappointing result but another very good display against the clear favourites to win the league.
