The Dolphins continued their pre season form with a convincing 3-1 win against a youthful AFC Bournemouth side.

508 people were at the Tatnam Ground to see Poole’s first home game in 84 days.

Joint-managers Joe Lea and Pat Suraci started a strong side however, both Jamie Whisken and Selim Saied were unavailable through injury.

Both teams started brightly however it was the Dolphins who got the opening goal on the ninth minute when Kris Campbell set Shaq Gwengwe free and he finished calmly into the far corner.

Ryan Campbell and Ik Hill started the half well as they linked up play down the left flank , creating chances for the home side.

Bournemouth had their share of chances in the opening half , mainly when number 18 found himself open ten yards from goal however his shot sailed high of the bar.

Poole found a second after just twenty minutes , Campbell’s inswinging free kick caused a flurry in the six yard box and Gwengwe was there again to pounce and finished acrobatically to double Poole’s lead.

Kris Campbell was on top form and 25 minutes in his shot looked bound for the top corner, however the Bournemouth goalkeeper was at full stretch to deny him.

The standard of football was very high in the first half with both teams building patterns of play with Poole leading 2-0 going into the break.

Ben Taylor came on to replace Adam Parkes in goal for Poole for the second half.

The second period started quickly as Bournemouth found their first goal through their number 20 just one minute into the half.

The Dolphins responded within a minute as Kris Campbell got the goal he deserved, finishing calmly past the Bournemouth goalkeeper after great work from Josh McCormick to keep the ball alive.

Both teams heavily rotated their squad in the second half, allowing trailists for both teams to get a chance to impress.

The final 20 minutes of the game were controlled by the Dolphins as they saw out their lead and secured another convincing win in pre-season.

Lea and Suraci’s side have now won three out of four pre-season fixtures and will be looking to maintain that form as we face Brockenhurst on the 22nd July with a 7:45pm kick off

Joint-manager Pat Suraci said: “It was our biggest test so far this pre-season, especially first half it was a real game.”

He added: “I thought it was really worthwhile and pleasing that we came out unscathed in terms of injuries.”

“I know we’ve got another gear that we can go into that we haven’t shown yet and we need to start hitting that with the season right round the corner, but overall very pleasing.”
