We are very much at the business end of the season and as we know every point counts. Whilst we can only control what we do, its human nature to be checking on the situation around the grounds where the results will have a significant impact on our fortunes. There are some very interesting fixtures ahead with many of the threatened sides coming up against each other. With just home fixtures against Marlow, Swindon Supermarine and Chertsey and away trips to Plymouth, Merthyr and Dorchester to come we cannot afford to drop any more points.

We begin the final run-in at Bolitho Park, on Saturday where we will face Plymouth Parkway who themselves are by no means safe from relegation. The Yellows have spent much of the season in the bottom four but a recent upturn in their form including a run of wins against Gosport, Bracknell and Taunton has pulled them up to 15th place in the table and 7thin the form rankings. However, they come into the match on Saturday on the back of defeats to Hungerford and Wimborne Town.

We won the reverse fixture at the BlackGold in September, Jake McCarthy gave us an eighth minute lead which we held onto until the 55th minute. Toby Holmes scored two goals in 3 minutes to give us the 3-1 win.

Chris McPhee is in his first season as manager of Plymouth. He has had a long career in league football and has represented several clubs, including Brighton, Torquay United, and Swindon Town, before moving into coaching with Exeter City. Joining him in the dugout as assistant manager is former Scottish professional footballer, Lee Peacock, whose career boasts stints at clubs such as Manchester City, Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City, and Swindon Town.

Pat and Joe have made a huge impact on the team since their arrival but they will be the first to admit that the unwavering support on the fans is so important to the players as we enter this nerve wrecking part of the season.

We are now playing some very attractive football but its only wins that will see us survive. With pretty much a fully fit squad and suspensions behind us we are in a great place to go after those precious points.

Enjoy the game

Neil Wellington.
