Poole Town were pushed aside by a clinical Chertsey Town side in a 2-1 defeat on Tuesday evening.

The Dolphins embarked on a new era within the last week with the appointment of joint-managers Joe Lea and Pat Suraci.

The new management duo made three changes from the 0-0 draw with Bracknell on the 4th January with Rafa Ramos, Antonio Diaz and Harry Thomas returning to the starting lineup.

The match got underway in Chertsey with high intensity from both sides and an abundance of free-flowing football but no real clear cut chances early on.

Poole were forced into an early change in the 30th minute with striker Ezio Touray going off and dynamic midfielder Tyrique Clarke entering the frey.

With Chertsey growing into the game, it was the hosts who opened the scoring after a great strike from Jack Mazzone nestled into the top right corner.

However, the Dolphins fought back immediately and only four minutes later, drew the scores level after a fantastic ball from Ramos set Tom Hewlett through and he finished convincingly into the bottom corner.

The half came to a close with the score level at one apiece with both sides looking like they could take the spoils on this occasion.

The second half had very limited chances, and the intensity dropped slightly from a lively first half.

Eventually, it was the hosts who re-took the lead on the 84th minute through a Mazzone header into the bottom corner which takes his tally up to 25 for the campaign.

In search of a late equaliser, Tyrique Clarke’s effort narrowly drifted wide of the post with minutes to go.

The match came to a close in Chertsey with Poole walking away with nothing but certainly a spirited and lively performance from Lea and Suraci’s side.
